Rustix™

Recreate the rustic, weathered beauty of aged wood.

Rustix offers a much more refined wall covering than your typical “palletwood” project
boards. Our stain and dye process creates a weathered patina in two color offerings, and
these easy-to-install roughsawn planks give shockingly good results on a more modest
budget. Use Rustix on a wall, ceiling, accent nook, or column wrap – you’ll be surprised how
much they can elevate a room.

Can Rustix be installed both vertically and horizontally?

Yes, Rustix can be installed both vertically and horizontally, according to your preference.

What makes the Great American Spaces Rustix Collection better than our competitors?

  • Our Rustix Collection is made from a much higher grade of wood than products using reclaimed pallet wood, with significantly less warping. A quality product translates to an easier installation and a beautifully finished project.
  • Our proprietary prefinishing process brings out the natural grain of the wood and
gives each plank multiple shades of color, providing beautiful dimension and rustic,
    old‐world patina to any environment.
  • Our finishes are eco‐friendly using a safe, water‐based finish and require low‐to‐no
    maintenance.
  • It is proudly made in the USA in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Can Rustix be installed on ceilings?

Yes, Rustix can be installed on walls and ceilings, however not in a shower or high moisture area.

Can Rustix be installed on fireplace walls?

Always follow local codes. As long as the immediate surrounding of the fireplace opening is non‐flammable, Rustix can be installed around it.

Is Rustix raw pine or is it prefinished?

Rustix is a prefinished pine, available in 3 color options: Beachwood, Silverwood and Smokewood.
All 3 color options have subtle shading for a beautiful dimensional look. Smokewood features 3
colors within the package; a brown, grey and a dark gray, while Beachwood and Silverwood are a
single color. No need to hire a painter/stainer. Simply install the product according to the
installation instructions in the Installation Guide tab above and your project is complete.

Can Rustix be installed directly to the studs and skip the drywall step?

No, we do not advise it. Due to its 3/8 in thickness, it is recommended that you install it either
over drywall or other wall covering. You could put a thin plywood over the studs and then
nail and/or use construction adhesive to adhere the product to your wall or ceiling. We
recommend painting the drywall or plywood a color somewhat similar to the Rustix color you
are using as occasionally there may be a slight gap between boards. This will eliminate a
bright wall color showing through.

What is the square footage in a package of Rustix?

There is 10 square feet of product per Rustix package. You will want to add a 5% waste factor when figuring your project needs.

Does Great American Spaces offer a product warranty on Rustix?

No, our product should never be exposed to the weather so there is no need for a warranty.

Can I glue Rustix to my drywall?

Yes, Rustix can be adhered to drywall or plywood using a construction adhesive or
nails. For an authentically rustic appearance, you could choose to use adhesive and
nails.

Does Rustix require maintenance when used inside?

Rustix is a low‐to‐no‐maintenance product when used inside. As with all wood products,
you will experience slight color change over time.

Where can Rustix be used?

Rustix can be used on dry porch ceilings, interior walls and ceilings, wainscoting, fireplace
surrounds, accent walls, bar wraps, interior barn doors and more. It’s not intended for use on
floors, exposed outdoor surfaces or in areas with high humidity or contact with water.

Can Rustix be used as siding or in other areas that are exposed to the weather?

No, Rustix cannot be used for exterior siding or areas exposed to the weather.

Is a touch‐up kit available?

Not at this time. If touch up is needed, match the finish color and sheen at a paint store.
Always do a color test in an inconspicuous area to make sure the match is acceptable before
proceeding.

Is matching trim available?

No, there is not a matching trim available for Rustix, however you could certainly find a
complementing trim option from one of our other Great American Spaces Collections.

What is the best way to clean Rustix?

Dust with a soft cloth or vacuum using a soft brush attachment.

Do I need to acclimate Rustix?

Yes, at least 72 hours prior to installation, remove packaging and place boards in the space
where they will be installed to allow wood to adjust to differences in humidity and
temperature.

What are the dimensions of each Rustix plank?

Rustix planks are 3/8 in thick, 3-3/4 in wide and 4 ft long. There are 8 planks in each package with
10 sq ft per package.

Is it normal for natural wood to have color differences or variations from board to board or within the same plank?

This grade of natural pine contains characteristics such as knots, splits, wane, and modest amounts of twisting, bowing and cupping. Color variation is common, and may be more noticeable around knots and heartwood. Some knot bleed, tannin bleed, color change and patina is common with finished wood products. Any characteristic that is unacceptable for your application should be cut from the piece prior to installing.

I love your product and decided to use Rustix instead of stone.  Very easy to install.  I used the Rustix Silverwood in our second home “up North”.
